🇬🇧 The Piedrei hotel is located in Hamburg's old harbor district. The hotel won the German Design Award in 2022 and is both playful and stylish. If you don't feel like staying in a hotel room, you can book a caravan. In the courtyard, there is an artificial grass lawn with sun loungers and umbrellas, and you can choose whether you prefer the caravan to be decorated in flower power, hippie, or retro style. Regardless of your choice, the caravans have skylights so you can see the starry sky. In the hotel's basement, there are bicycles for rent, and next to the restaurant, there is a private cinema. The 200 square meter children's area, Racker Room, is located on the second floor and is open every day. Here, there is a climbing wall, Lego, video games, a pillow corner, and books - and above all, no parents. Children can be left with friendly staff while mothers and fathers take their coffee cups and pocketbooks up to the rooftop terrace.
Pierdrei is well known for its fine dining restaurant, Kitchens. Every fourth month the chefs embarks on a culinary journey, and most recently, they visited Tuscany. The dishes on the newly inaugurated five-course menu are created with inspiration from both gourmet restaurants and country kitchens, aiming for a culinary experience where the recipes of star chefs blend with those of grandmothers. We are served cappelletti (a type of tortellini) with scamorza cheese and bacon, anchovies and lingonberries combined, and ribollita - a classic Tuscan bean stew with olives. Each dish is presented with a photograph from the journey and a story about how that particular dish came to be. For dessert, colazione, is meant to be a nod to the Italian breakfast - light, quick, and sweet - tasting like coffee, pistachio, and chocolate. For the children, small cornetto ice creams are served, and for the main course, a much-appreciated spaghetti with tomato sauce.
The assignment was to capture stills and video for web and social media.
